Alishan Mi Xiang Red

Crazy to imagine this red tea naturally has such an intense honey profile - hence its name mi xiang (蜜香), meaning 'honey aroma'.

This Taiwanese tea gets its signature honeyed flavour from bugs that feed on the tea plants. In defence, the tea plants release a compound that repels those bugs, but to humans tastes pleasantly sweet. Mother Nature works in mysterious, magical ways.
